(Yicai Global) Sept. 10 -- Two overseas units of Hytera Communications, a Chinese radio equipment manufacturer, will join forces to expand the public security network used in Brazil's northeastern state of Alagoas.
Consorcio Hytera Tetra Alagoas, a joint venture formed by Hytera's US and Brazilian subsidiaries, has signed a deal with Alagoas' public security bureau to upgrade the TETRA communications network used by local police, firefighters and emergency rescue teams, Shenzhen-based Hytera said in a statement yesterday.
TETRA is a mission-critical communications system. The original grid in Alagoas was built by Hytera's German unit in 2014, but the demands placed on it have since evolved. A smooth project will enable Hytera to explore the market in other Brazilian states as well as other countries in South America, the statement added.
The deal is worth CNY45.2 million (USD6.6 million), of which equipment procurement makes up USD1.3 million. Installation and a four-year maintenance contract will amount to BRL21.2 million (USD5.2 million). Equipment purchasing will be completed by Sept. 6 next year.
