(Yicai Global) Sept. 17 -- The Wi-Fi Alliance announced yesterday that it will begin its certification program for Wi-Fi 6, which can handle data speeds more than two and a half times faster than its predecessor to makeit more effective for use with augmented and virtual reality.

The new configuration also allows for a greater number of devices to connect to a network without dragging on speeds, opening up the possibility of faster public Wi-Fi networks.
