(Yicai Global) Oct. 16 -- The Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China, Ltd. (COMAC) has successfully completed the first test flight of a domestically-made ARJ21-700 aircraft fitted with China's Beidou Navigation, Chinese news outlet The Paper reported.
The flight included several system tests, including a performance test of its airborne receiver. The results show that the system is of a similar standard to equivalent equipment in other countries, COMAC said in a press briefing.
The Beidou Navigation System combines China's own satellite navigation system, the Ground Based Augmentation Systems, with an airborne navigating system. This test offers a large of amount of information for COMAC in its efforts to nurture its standardization for use in international civil aircrafts.
The test flight also represents the first test and application of the system in civil aviation.
COMAC will continue to follow up on the progress of the system separately from the development of its regional airliners, the company said.
