(Yicai Global) Jan. 6 -- Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok and the country's most popular short video app, passed 400 million daily active users yesterday, according to the latest data released by its operator.
Most users are based in Shanghai and Beijing municipalities and the three northeastern provinces Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang, the app's operator Bytedance said in a market data report today, adding that the app had just 250 million DAUs in January 2019.
Bytedance is on a mission to become an "encyclopedia of video apps," Chief Executive Zhang Nan said.
