(Yicai) Jan. 10 -- Senior Technology Material, a major Chinese supplier of lithium battery separators, has agreed to handle the manufacture of new semiconductor materials developed by Japan’s RS Technologies.

Senior Tech will be the preferred commercial production partner for RS’ new chip materials, the Shenzhen-based company announced yesterday, citing a deal signed on Jan. 8.

Senior Tech will leverage its commercial resources and business capabilities to introduce third-party investors to facilitate the research, development, production, and sales of the new materials created by RS in China and Japan, it noted, without disclosing any further details.

Senior Tech’s shares [SHE: 300568] closed 0.9 percent down at CNY9 (USD1.23) apiece in Shenzhen today, after gaining by as much as 1.4 percent in morning trading. The benchmark ChiNext Index fell nearly 1.8 percent to the lowest since Sept. 27.

Tokyo-listed RS mainly produces wafers from recycled materials. It is the controlling shareholder of Grinm Semiconductor Materials, a Chinese supplier of semiconductor silicon materials, such as silicon polished wafers.
