(Yicai Global) Oct. 24 -- Chinese short-video application Douyin, known as Tik Tok in overseas markets, has reached a cooperation agreement with Avex, Japan's largest record label, to add 25,000 songs for the app's Asian users to use from the end of this month.
Tik Tok, operated by Beijing firm Bytedance technology, will provide users with more music choices and more diversified product experiences through the cooperation with Avex while the label's musicians will also gain wider recognition, Beijing News reported.
Avex is home to thousands of Japan's most famous artists including Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi, and Ai Otsuka.
Tik Tok landed in Japan last summer and has repeatedly ranked first on app rankings in the country. Douyin and Tik Tok are available in more than 150 countries globally and videos on the platform receive some 13 billion hits a month in Japan.
