(Yicai Global) Sept. 7 -- Shanghai organized its first International 24-Hour City of Vibrance Forum to create more options for consumers to enjoy shopping and entertainment in the evening.

Several companies have been influential in improving the eastern city's night-time economy, attracting tourists and local residents. Jiushi Tourism Group, an operator of Huangpu River cruise tours, has been linked with Shanghai’s Nightlife Festival, said Hu Zhe, executive deputy general manager. Yuyuan Tourist Mart, which runs Yuyuan Garden, a famous tourism landmark in Shanghai, is seeking new points of penetration after joining the first Nightlife Festival in 2020, said Hu Junjie, vice president.

Liu Min, deputy director of the municipal commerce commission, was delivering a speech during the forum yesterday. Shanghai will speed up the process of building itself into an international hub for consumption and enriching the diversity of nightlife events, per the commission.

The event had international speakers, including Ariel Palitz, senior executive director at the NYC Office of Nightlife in the United States.

Another online speaker was Mirik Milan, the first night mayor of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The forum released the China City Nighttime Economy Index. Yang Yudong, chief editor of Shanghai Yicai Media, interpreted the index for major cities in China. Shanghai ranked first, excelling in all dimensions.
