(Yicai Global) July 21 -- Some 12 people have died in central China's Zhengzhou as of this morning as the capital of central Henan province deals with the heaviest rainfall in history.
The cumulative rainfall, measured by 73 weather stations, has exceeded 500 millimeters, and the city has cut access to clean water and electricity for many residential communities due to the dangerous submerged state of roads.
Traffic was stopped or moving along slowly on many roads of the city.
A man was trying to swim his way across a large pond of rainwater.
Some drivers needed to wait for rescue when their cars could no longer move.
Many tried to take the subway home.
People were entering and exiting Zhengzhou Railway Station while many trains were canceled amid the disastrous weather.
Traffic police were guiding a driver by the railway station.
