(Yicai Global) Aug 17 - Two months after a resurgence there of the coronavirus, Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products Wholesale Market resumed operations on Aug. 15 and will initially restore 60 percent of the market's normal fruit and vegetable trading volume.
The emporium, which has banned transactions in its underground spaces and transactions with retailers, will have a third-party agency on site to conduct regular nucleic acid testing of its internal environment, articles, packaging materials and public utensils because of the risks of a Covid-19 recurrence.
Xinfadi in Southwest Beijing is one of North China’s largest agricultural product trading markets. A cluster of Covid-19 cases broke out there in June, and confirmed cases between June 11 to July 21 in the city totaled 335. The government responded to the outbreak in a timely fashion, got the epidemic under control quickly, and placed all cases in quarantine.
