(Yicai) March 25 -- Zeekr Intelligent Technology, the electric vehicle unit of Chinese car giant Geely Holding Group, has apologized after one of its vehicles unexpectedly started and injured five people at the Nanjing International New Energy Vehicle Exhibition.
None of the five’s lives were in danger, and three of them have been discharged from hospital following medical checks, Ningbo-based Zeekr said on Weibo late yesterday.
Videos online showed a Zeekr X, a compact luxury sport utility vehicle, suddenly starting while a visitor was in it before crashing into a BYD display vehicle at a nearby stand.
The accident was management's fault because the electric vehicle was not set in exhibition mode, the automaker said, adding that the company is checking all of its display vehicles in China to avoid any similar accidents.
