(Yicai) May 21 -- Shares of Hymson Laser Technology Group surged by the exchange-imposed daily trading limit after the Chinese laser and automation equipment maker announced major breakthroughs in key technologies of its new laser generator, which has great prospects for use in healthcare.
Hymson Laser [SHA: 688559] closed up 20 percent to CNY40.86 a share in Shanghai today.
Hymson Laser has developed a laser generator with no rivals worldwide yet, the Shenzhen-based firm said late yesterday. The product can be used in mini-invasive surgical treatment of human biological tissue diseases such as cancers, it added.
The laser generator can stably generate mid-infrared waves with a wavelength of 6 to 6.4 micrometers and remedy shortcomings of previous products, including low output power and inability to be tuned and miniaturized, according to a third party's review.
Mid-infrared waves with a wavelength of 2 to 20 micrometers are a special electromagnetic wave band that can be used in mini-invasive surgical treatments, including mini-invasive corneal cutting and transplantation, mini-invasive ablation of atherosclerosis, selective ablation of pancreatic tumors, and medical cosmetology, Hymson Laser noted.
Hymson Laser will complete clinical tests of the new product as a medical device as soon as possible, according to the company. It will then apply for a medical license from regulatory authorities and start mass production in three to five years after getting the license, it added.
