(Yicai) Aug. 9 -- Hymson Laser Technology Group, a Chinese maker of laser automation gear, has won the bidding for a CNY1.3 billion (USD174 million) order to supply power battery production equipment to a leading foreign automaker.
Shenzhen-based Hymson Laser made the announcement late yesterday, without revealing the client's name because of a confidentiality agreement.
Hymson Laser's revenue from sales of power battery production gear jumped 10.6 percent to CNY3.7 billion last year, accounting for 77 percent of its total income, according to the firm's annual trading report. Overseas sales accounted for just 2.5 percent.
Chinese battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology and US electric carmaker Tesla are among the best-known clients of Hymson Laser’s battery manufacturing equipment.
After climbing by as much as 5.7 percent earlier today, the firm’s Star Market-listed shares [SHA: 688559] ended down 0.1 percent at CNY33.93 (USD4.73) each. The benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Science and Technology Innovation Board 50 Index fell 0.5 percent.
