(Yicai Global) Dec. 19 -- Chinese tech firm New Century Robot will take back over 1,300 logistics machines due to battery-related fire hazards.
The lithium-ion batteries of these robots may overheat in extreme circumstances which may cause a risk of fire, the State Administration for Market Regulation's official Weibo account reported yesterday. The Shanghai-based firm registered a recall plan with the SAMR a few days ago to rescind this batch of bots made from December of 2013 to April last year.
Consumers that are affected by the target products should stop using them and contact the company or its resellers for a complimentary replacement.
Founded in 2010, New Century Robot's products are used in high-speed trains, airports and even in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, according to the company's website.
