(Yicai Global) May 31 -- A cloud computing unit of Alibaba will team up with energy meter-maker Clou Electronics to build new energy vehicles charging service and a platform for energy trading.
Alibaba Cloud will contribute to the partnership with its emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, said the Shenzhen-based energy-metering firm in a statement.
The pair will first build an operating and battery-charging platform for electric cars, with a special focus on energy-saving features. They will also create a smart regional distributed energy trading application which manages microgrids. The plan also included establishing a joint venture dealing in energy management-related big data services if the demand follows.
Cooperation with Alibaba will help improve Clou's operating capacity and lower the costs, the statement added. By drawing experience from internet wisdom, the firm will strive to transform itself into a comprehensive energy service supplier.
