(Yicai) June 28 -- Alibaba Cloud has decided to no longer provide data center services in Australia and India after a careful re-assessment of its global infrastructure investment strategy, the cloud computing arm of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding said yesterday.

The Indian data hub will cease operations at 12 a.m. on July 15, Mumbai time and the Australian data center at 12 a.m. on Sept. 30, Sydney time, the Hangzhou-based company said. Users are advised to relocate their business as soon as possible to Alibaba Cloud’s data hubs in Singapore or other regions.

However, Alibaba Cloud will increase investment in data centers in Southeast Asia and Mexico, it added.

On April 8, Alibaba Cloud slashed the price of over 500 products, including its core cloud products, by up to 59 percent in 13 countries. Prices in five major product categories, namely computing, storage, network, database and big data, were lowered 23 percent on average.
