(Yicai Global) Nov. 20 -- Glorious Mission, a mobile game developed by Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. [HKG:0700], will undergo testing on Nov. 21. More than 25 million gamers have reserved spots to sample the battle royale game after applications opened up on Nov. 8.
Glorious Mission will be Tencent's first attempt at a 100-player shooter on mobile, and it bears some resemblance to South Korean-published Playerunknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). The Chinese developer has adopted dynamic lighting and other technology to ensure smooth gameplay and included six weather modes to mimic real-life environments, helping it to stand out from similar single-climate games, Kuai Keji reported yesterday.
The game will utilize Tencent's two social media platforms, QQ and WeChat, to allow players to easily find friends to play with, Glorious Mission's website said. The integration with social media should help the game reach a larger audience online through word-of-mouth advertising.
