(Yicai Global) Jan. 4 -- The China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda and Qianwei Fengsheng Paper Co. signed an agreement to make tissues using panda feces on Dec. 18.

The Sichuan-based firm will recycle and process all the panda poop and food waste from the CCRCGP’s Dujiangyan, Bifengxia and Shenshuping bases to produce the paper goods, the center said.

The tissues will be relatively expensive at CNY43 (USD6.50) per box because the manufacturing procedures are costly and complicated, said Zhou Chuanping, a manager at Qianwei Fengsheng Paper.

An adult panda can generate 50 kilograms of bamboo waste and push out 10 kilograms of excrement each day, said CCRCGP Director Huang Yan.

Pandas only absorb nutritional ingredients such as polysaccharide from bamboo leaves and pass bamboo fiber, which can help papermakers save production steps, Zhou said. The manufacturing process ensures that the tissues meet hygienic and safety standards, said Zhou.
