Shanghai, China, December 19, 2024 – AMEC Semiconductor Equipment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (AMEC, SSE: 688012) today announced that the U.S. Department of Defense has officially removed AMEC from the Chinese Military Companies List (CMC List) on December 18, 2024 (Eastern Time).
On January 14, 2021, the U.S. Department of Defense unjustifiably included AMEC in the list of "Chinese Communist Party Military Enterprises" (CCMC). After more than four months of argumentative arguments, the U.S. Department of Defense removed AMEC from the list on June 3, 2021. However, on January 31, 2024, the U.S. Department of Defense once again added AMEC to the list of "Chinese military enterprises" (CMCs) operating in the United States for no reason. AMEC firmly believes that it is completely unreasonable for the US Department of Defense to include AMEC in the CMC list, in order to suppress China's semiconductor equipment head enterprises and curb the development of China's integrated circuit industry. AMEC also firmly believes that through effective communication and even legal action, the US Department of Defense will correct the wrong decision and remove AMEC from the CMC list.
On August 14, 2024, AMEC formally filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. After four months of litigation and further arguments, the U.S. Department of Defense officially removed AMEC from the CMC list. This marks a significant achievement in AMEC's efforts to clarify the facts and safeguard its legitimate rights and interests and reputation.
Over the past 17 years, AMEC has won four of its five legal battles with U.S. Equipment and the U.S. government, and settled two successfully. This shows that in the relationship between business and the government, as long as we abide by the law, present facts and reason, fight on the basis of reason, and fight with wits and courage, we will be invincible.
Dr. Yin Zhiyao, Chairman and General Manager of AMEC, said, "We welcome this decision by the U.S. Department of Defense, which will be conducive to the healthy development of AMEC. The successful removal from the CMC list fully demonstrates AMEC's determination and ability to protect its legitimate rights and interests. AMEC will, as always, operate legally and compliantly, adhere to technological innovation, product differentiation and intellectual property protection, provide high-quality products and first-class services to Chinese and international customers, and strive to become a world-class semiconductor equipment company in terms of competitiveness, customer satisfaction and market scale. ”

AMEC Semiconductor Equipment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (stock abbreviation: AMEC, stock code: 688012) is committed to providing leading processing equipment and process technology solutions for global integrated circuit and LED chip manufacturers. The CCP high-energy plasma and ICP low-energy plasma etching developed by AMEC include more than a dozen subdivision etching equipment, which can cover most etching applications. AMEC's plasma etching equipment has been widely used by domestic and international first-tier customers, from 65nm to 5nm and beyond, for many etching applications. In the last decade, AMEC has focused on the development of a variety of conductor and semiconductor chemical thin film equipment, such as MOCVD, LPCVD, ALD and EPI equipment, and has made gratifying progress. AMEC has developed MOCVD equipment for the production of LED and power device epitaxial wafers that has already been put into mass production on the customer's production line, and occupies a leading position in the global GaN-based LED MOCVD equipment market. In addition, AMEC is also laying out optical and electron beam testing equipment, and developing a variety of pan-semiconductor micro-processing equipment. These devices are key to the manufacture of various microscopic devices, which can process and inspect various devices at the micrometer and nano scales. These microscopic devices are the foundation of the modern digital industry, and they are changing the way people produce and live. In the global semiconductor equipment customer satisfaction survey conducted by TechInsights (formerly VLSI Research) in the United States in the past five years, AMEC has won the third overall score three times, and the thin-film equipment has been rated first three times.
