(Yicai Global) Dec. 7 -- The Yicai Research Institute and J.P. Morgan have chosen 54 must-reads for policy makers, regulators and financial professionals in their 10th annual list of significant financial books, which was released on Nov. 30.

Organized into the categories of Theme Books of the Year, Most Popular Books of the Year, Books of the Year and Recommended Books, this year's titles span a wide range of topics.

The important topics discussed in these publications are of extraordinary practical significance to China's development and the global economy, said Mark Leung, chief executive of J.P. Morgan China.

Since it began in 2009, the Yicai-J.P. Morgan Financial Books of the Year has become the most recognized financial publications list in China. Authored in both Chinese and English, the titles are selected through a rigorous process of recommendations, public votes and committee evaluations according to the criteria of global perspective and insightful foresightedness.

J.P. Morgan is pleased that the list has become one of China's most recognized among finance professionals, Leung added.

Topics covered by this year's choice include economic research methodology, market system choices, development planning, economic systems, statistical accounting, trade, politics, diplomacy, exchange rate reform, debt crisis, global financial systems, bank internet technology architecture, artificial intelligence, business models, industrial development, climate change, inequality and the economics of poverty.

All these topics deserve our close attention due to the multiple challenges faced by China and the world, said Yang Yanqing, deputy editor-in-chief of China Business News and managing director of the Yicai Research Institute, the research arm of Yicai Media Group, Yicai Global's owner.

J.P. Morgan has been rooted in China for nearly a century. It hopes to continue to participate in and promote the understanding of these important issues among the general public and decision-makers and contribute to China's long-term sustainable development, Leung said.

Many important guests attended the event at which the titles were revealed. They included Zhou Xiaochuan, president of the China Society for Finance and Banking and vice chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia; Yang Weimin, former deputy head of the Office of the Central Leading Group on Financial and Economic Affairs; Zhu Min, dean of the National Financial Research Institute of Tsinghua University; Yuan Peng, president of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations; Nicolas Chapuis, European Union ambassador to China; Huang Leping, head of semiconductor and technology hardware research at China International Capital Corporation; and Yang Tao, vice president of Carrier BG at Huawei Technologies.
