(Yicai Global) Feb. 18 -- Chinese telecoms giant ZTE plans to release its first fifth-generation wireless technology smartphone in one week while joining the race to launch such a powerful gadget at an industry conference in Europe.
ZTE intends to launch its 5G device on the day when the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain, starts on Feb. 25, the Shenzhen-based firm posted on its microblogging account Weibo. Shenzhen's OnePlus, Huawei Technologies and Seoul's LG Electronics have announced earlier that they are using the MWC 2019 to release handsets that support 5G.
ZTE's stock price [SHE:000063] gained 4.96 percent to CNY24.14 (USD3.6) at the close. Its shares listed in Hong Kong [HKG:0763] also rose 9.07percent to HKD19.72 (USD2.5).
