(Yicai Global) Aug. 6 -- Mario Ho, the youngest son of Macau's legendary King of Gambling Stanley Ho, is breaking out into eSports in partnership with Tencent, the world's largest gaming company.

The 23-year-old is stepping out form his father's shadow and forming his own identity as a chief marketing officer at iDreamSky Technology, which is responsible for marketing and promoting eSports businesses and augmented reality games, he told news site The Paper. Ho took on the role in May and immediately took to planning the Macau eSports Carnival in June.

iDreamSky, which was listed on the Nasdaq until two years ago, applied in May to go public in Hong Kong. The firm has seven partnerships with Tencent, according to its prospectus, including banking, product and service supply deals and copyright arrangements for cloud services.

"I feel the need to first identify our own space in the industrial chain of eSports, composed of live streaming, game development, competitions and distinct peripheral services," Ho told The Paper at ChinaJoy on Aug. 3.

Despite being the son of one of Asia's richest men, Ho is determined to pave the way for his own future. He turned down an offer from Oxford before graduating a four-year course from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in just three years.

With funds raised from the listing, he plans to develop offline stores to host eSports competitions. The firm is mainly engaged in publishing and as of the end of last year had 120 million monthly active users on average, with games like Temple Run 2, Gardenscapes and Monument Valley among its roster.
