(Yicai Global) June 18 -- Beijing-based electronic device maker Xiaomi today announced the official debut of its televisions in Russia.
China's giant northern neighbor is the company's third foreign market after India and Indonesia.
Li Xiaoshuang, general manager of Xiaomi TV, announced this news on China's Twitter-like Weibo social media platform.
Xiaomi TV has unveiled three models for the Russian market. With 55-inch, 43-inch and 32-inch displays, the three types come equipped with an Android TV system and Bluetooth voice remote controls and are priced at RUB33,999 (USD529), RUB22,999 and RUB11,999, respectively.
Xiaomi has rapidly expanded its market share via its low pricing strategy since its 2013 entry into the smart TV business. It has ranked first by sales volume in the Chinese market for the sixth straight month, Xiaomi TV announced early this month, adding its worldwide shipments over the first four months also surpassed those of Japan's Sony to rank it fifth globally.
Xiaomi TV landed in India in February last year in its first foray abroad and then established itself in Indonesia in September. Xiaomi TV has been the largest smart TV brand in the Indian market for four straight quarters, and has sold more than 2 million TVs in the first 14 months since its advent there.
