(Yicai Global) June 20 -- Efforts to establish the Shanghai-London Stock Connect scheme are under way and China is keen on establishment of it as it will benefit both Chinese and international markets and strengthen cooperation between financial regulatory authorities of involved parties, said Jiang Yang, vice chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) at Lujiazui Forum 2017 today.
If Shanghai-London Stock Connect is successfully launched, the domestic capital market will attract more international long-term investors, which will help improve the investor structure in the market. It will also better meet the needs of domestic investors for diversified global investment, Jiang underlined. With the launch of Shanghai-London Stock Exchange Connect, the financial regulatory authorities of both sides would strengthen cooperation, he pointed out.
Some insiders pointed to China's A-share market rapidly moving to internationalization, adding that such a connection with London Stock Exchange would also pave the way for further exchanges with other markets and further broaden channels for international cooperation.
At the 8th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue held last November, China and the UK studied the feasibility of Shanghai-London Stock Connection and agreed to continue exploring ways to realize it.
