Will the FTSE Russell World Government Bond Index include Chinese bonds? Will the FTSE Russell World Government Bond Index include Chinese bonds?

Yes.

FTSE Russell said in September that it would not include yuan-denominated bonds in the WGBI as it wanted to see more liquidity in the secondary market and more flexible execution of foreign exchanges and transaction settlements. Most investors in the WGBI are Japanese institutions that are more conservative as they are not familiar with the Chinese market, but many global institutions are stocking up on yuan bonds and China is striving to improve the liquidity of its bond market. FTSE Russell is expected to announce this month that it will include Chinese bonds in the index starting next year.
