Will China's Inflationary Pressure Drop Significantly? Will China's Inflationary Pressure Drop Significantly?

Yes.

High pork prices inflamed the consumer price index last year, which caused great concern. The CPI rose 4.5 percent in November from a year earlier, and pork prices surged 110.2 percent. China has acted to increase hog production by expanding large-scale pig farming and lifted unreasonable bans and restrictions on pig farming in many places. These measures have taken effect, and pork prices fell in November from the previous month as a result.

The recovery of the pig supply will take some time. Pork prices are expected to be stable or even drop as the measures to support hog production take effect. The swine supply is likely to rise after the second and third quarters and thus gradually bring down high pork prices.
