(Yicai Global) May 15 -- Dalian Wanda Group Co. is in talks on potential projects with four Belt and Road (B&R) countries, said Chairman Wang Jianlin, China's richest man.
Wang gave a speech on investment in the tourism industry under the One Belt, One Road initiative at the latest B&R forum. Tourism can help boost business for restaurants, places of accommodation, shopping centers, transportation providers, and other industries, he said.
Wanda already is working on two tourism undertakings outside China -- a culture and tourism venture in northeastern Paris, France and an industrial new city in India's Haryana state. The EUR3 billion (USD3.3 billion) Paris project, which covers an area of 800,000 square meters and a floor area of 760,000 square meters, is the largest tourism investment project in Europe and will be home to an indoor theme park, hotels, and business and conference centers. Once completed, it will create 13,000 jobs, making it the continent's biggest job-generating program. The endeavor, which is being funded by Wanda and France's Groupe Auchan SA, is underway.
The industrial new city in Haryana is situated in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor within the National Capital Region and is close to New Delhi. More than 70 percent of the 110,000-square-kilometer plot will be used for a manufacturing park and a culture and tourism park, but there will still be room for a residential area. Once completed, the industrial city will create over 100,000 jobs. It is India's largest investment project.
