(Yicai Global) Feb. 10 -- The National Academy of Engineering in the United States has welcomed two new Chinese experts as its international members.
Zhang Hongjiang, senior advisor of the Carlyle Group, and Fang Daining, chair professor at Beijing Institute of Technology's Institute of Advanced Structure Technology, have been elected along with 20 other new international members of the independent nonprofit institution, the NAE said in a press release posted on its website yesterday.
The organization that seeks to honor professionals who have made outstanding contributions in engineering research, practice, and education has almost 2,400 members in the States and 310 international members.
Zhang, who has served Source Code Capital as a venture partner since 2017, used to work for Beijing-based software giant Kingsoft. Before that, he was Microsoft Research Asia's vice president. The NAE acknowledged Zhang's contributions and leadership in the area of multimedia computing, it said.
Fang has been an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2013. One of America's leading national academic institutes recognized his contributions in the areas of the mechanics of ferroelectric and ferromagnetic materials, as well as lightweight multifunctional structures under extreme conditions.
