US Commerce Department Imposes New Countervailing Duties on China's Solar Companies US Commerce Department Imposes New Countervailing Duties on China's Solar Companies

(Yicai Global) July 12 -- The US Department of Commerce today made a final ruling on its third anti-subsidy review of photovoltaic (PV) products imported from China, imposing countervailing duties of 17.14 percent to 18.3 percent on Chinese PV products, China's ministry of commerce said on its website.

China's solar companies have faced significant challenges in recent years, and Chinese solar imports to the US have continued to drop. Solar modules exported to the US as a percentage of total such exports fell to 11 percent last year. The value of solar modules exported to the US also declined 20.33 percent to USD1,4 billion. The levying of countervailing duties on Chinese solar firms is set to add to these woes.
