(Yicai Global) Oct. 30 -- Three unstaffed noodle restaurants in Shanghai have been ordered to suspend business.

Streets and office buildings in the city have recently seen unmanned noodle restaurants similar to vending machines crop up.

These hot-food vending machines sell consumers a convenient bowel of hot noodles, with payment by Alipay or WeChat available in a process that takes less than a minute, per the report by TechWeb.

Shanghai Ludou Catering Management Co. is the operator and this unstaffed noodle restaurant operates via a processing model with the frozen noodles and broth stored in boxes at -18 degrees Celsius quickly thaws, with boiling water then injected into the noodle box via a hole in the top. The entire process occurs inside the machine. The noodles this machine sells are not freshly-made, but rather processed in a manner similar to instant noodles.

Local Shanghai officials have confirmed that the operator's business license and food business permit are effective, they said. Nevertheless, the process of on-site catering is beyond the scope of their business, and so the automata have been suspended, but may re-open after the operator gets necessary approvals.

All three of the firm's unstaffed noodle restaurants in Shanghai have been suspended.
