(Yicai Global) Sept. 14 -- Universal Studios’ theme park in Beijing began selling opening day tickets to the public at midnight yesterday. They sold out within one minute on China’s biggest online travel site Trip.com, according to its data.

Ticket bookings for future days exceeded 10,000 in three minutes, and all rooms for the opening day of Universal Studios Hotel were booked in 30 minutes.

Universal Studios Beijing had a soft opening on Sept. 1 and will officially open on Sept. 20. Tickets for the Sept. 20 to Dec. 12 period went on sale at midnight.

According to Universal Studios’ website, Universal Beijing Resort has three ticketing channels: its mobile apps, including its official app, Alibaba mini program and WeChat mini program; its customer contact center; and its official flagship store on Fliggy, the online travel platform owned by Alibaba, and 21 authorized partners of travel agencies, including Trip.com.

Data show that more than 100,000 people on Trip.com alone have booked tickets for Universal Studios Beijing. And the number of searches for Universal Beijing Resort jumped nine times yesterday from the previous day.

Beijing has become the most searched and consulted destination for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival since Universal Beijing Resort announced its opening during the holiday, according to online travel agency Lvmama.

Universal Beijing Resort sets its single-day ticket prices using a four-tier system. Tickets in low season cost CNY418 (USD64.80), while those for mid-season are priced at CNY528, with those in peak season going for CNY638 and those in special season topping out at CNY748.
