(Yicai) Jan. 31 -- Chinese automotive aftersales service platform Tuhu Car has introduced a new auto parts traceability function based on Huawei Cloud’s blockchain technology.

Launched on Jan. 29, the new function provides authenticity verification and anti-counterfeit traceability certifications for tires, engine oil, batteries, maintenance parts, and other auto parts on Tuhu, the two companies announced yesterday.

The first batch of certifications will cover brands such as Robert Bosch, Champion Auto Parts, and Think Automotive, with more brands to be introduced in the future, the pair added.

When consumers purchase goods and services on Tuhu, they can scan the QR code on the packaging with their mobile phones to check the authenticity and access the trusted traceability information and circulation chain.

While the new function’s technology and storage are provided by Huawei Cloud, the maintenance commodity, logistics, and sales data are supplied by Tuhu. The function aims to solve uneven quality and unclear information from third parties in the field of automotive aftersales repair and maintenance.

Founded in 2011, Tuhu is China’s first online and offline integrated automotive service platform. In the first half of last year, its revenue rose 19 percent to over CNY6.5 billion (USD915 million) from a year earlier. Tuhu’s platform had more than 100 million registered users and 18 million trading users in the past year.
