(Yicai Global) May 30 -- Toyota's Chinese arm has been discussing with Didi Chuxing, the nation's biggest ride-hailing company, to cooperate in terms of mobility services in China, the China Securities Journal reported, citing a person who wanted to remain anonymous.
Toyota Motor is looking to team with many Chinese firms to transform into a mobility service provider and Toyota China and Didi Chuxing decided to collaborate at the beginning of last year, the source said, without disclosing the intended size of investment nor whether the deal involves setting up a joint venture.
The Japanese car firm may invest JPY60 billion (USD550 million) in Didi Chuxing to form a vehicle rental firm in China, Reuters reported yesterday.
