(Yicai Global) Nov. 18 -- Globalization is one of the core strategies at Toutiao.com in 2017,said Zhang Yiming, founder of the Chinese Internet media service provider.
The internationalization of Toutiao will occur through two channels--companies Toutiao itself creates and mergers and acquisitions, Zhang said during a group interview at the 3rd World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, in southeastern Zhejiang province.He said the company will ramp up its input into North America and Southeast Asia in 2017.
Toutiao.com now has more than 10 million overseas users in North America, Brazil, Japan and Southeast Asia.
He elaborated on the company's overseas strategies, saying that the internet has continuously reduced the frequency of global-scale allocations of information, materials, human resources and capital, and the cost of this allocation has also beenreduced. "Internet users in China only make upone-fifthof the global Internet population. One-fifth can't compete with the remaining four-fifths,unless resources can be allocated on a worldwide scale, and products with economies of scale can be developed. So 'going abroad' is the only choice," Zhang said.
