(Yicai) April 25 -- The Top 10 Climate Technologies to Watch in 2025 list, which is endorsed and selected by Oxford University, was released at the Build Green Artificial Intelligence for a Broader Sustainable Future Business forum during the Shanghai Climate Week.

The Shanghai Climate Week and China ESG Alliance gathered top global wisdom and innovative practices to jointly chart a grand blueprint for empowering sustainable development with green AI, unveiling the list during the forum the pair co-hosted with Alibaba Group Holding at the Climate Community yesterday.

The list, witnessed by Abrar Chaudhury, a senior research fellow at Oxford University's Saïd Business School, and Michael Zhang, co-founder of the China ESG Alliance, focuses on technological innovations that drive reductions in Scope 3/3+ emissions and expand downstream green AI service scenarios.

Technological innovation, particularly AI technology, has a core role in driving green transformation and sustainable development amid global climate change challenges, Zou Rong, co-director of the Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee, and Mihoko Kumamoto, director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research's prosperity division, said in opening remarks at the forum.

The event was moderated by Salome Chen, co-founder of China ESG Alliance, while Wee Kean Fong, head of the World Economic Forum's climate and resources for China, gave an expert address. Focused on a "Green AI and New Quality Productivity" theme, industry leaders shared cutting-edge insights and practical experiences.

Marina Negrisoli, global director of sustainability of Suzano, discussed AI applications in the pulp and paper industry and sustainable development. Naveen GV, chief global business development officer of Benchmark Gensuite, explored how AI can amplify the impact of sustainability efforts.

Tony Fang, vice president of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International, shared cases of using cloud computing and AI to help firms achieve carbon neutrality goals. Julmy Zhou, VP of Ecolab China's light industry division, addressed water and energy efficiency solutions for data centers in the green AI era.

Ji Xiucheng, senior director of Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning, presented the company's green heating and cooling technologies and energy-saving cases. Tang Kai, chief marketing officer of SF Tech Group, showcased achievements in empowering green AI logistics and supply chains through self-developed large language models.

In the closing roundtable discussion moderated by senior journalist Zhou Jiangong, industry leaders from GDS Holdings, Nissan China, LinkedIn China, Dongpeng Holdings, and Huiye Law Firm debated AI's role and prospects in sustainable development across industries, agreeing that integrating AI with sustainability will inject strong momentum into industrial upgrading and green transformation.

Schott Group, a member of the China ESG Alliance, announced the release of the first Product Carbon Footprint management guide for the special glass industry at this year's Shanghai Climate Week, showing the alliance's commitment to driving green transformation across sectors.

The forum highlights the collaboration between global and Chinese stakeholders, showcases innovative climate technologies, and underscores the growing role of AI in decarbonization efforts.
