(Yicai Global) Sept. 29 -- Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world's largest maker of scientific instruments, has upgraded its Chinese manufacturing base in Suzhou with an investment of USD10 million.
The eastern Chinese plant has been expanded by more than 13,000 square meters, which includes an 800-sqm innovation center with air-quality testing and chemical analysis labs, the Massachusetts-headquartered firm recently said in a statement on its website.
The factory has added new product lines. It will be churning out the company's first disposable bioprocess containers in the Asia-Pacific region It will also produce high-end air quality testing and analysis instruments.
Thermo Fisher entered China more than 35 years ago and has its Chinese HQ in Shanghai, as well as eight factories in cities such as Beijing and Guangzhou. The firm hires about 5,000 workers in the Asian country.
