(Yicai Global) Oct. 10 -- The Foreigner, a film co-produced by China and the UK, has grossed over CNY441 million (USD66.84 million) at the box office after being shown for 10 days in mainland China, Zhejiang Jinlihua Electric Co. [SHE:300069], whose subsidiary invested in the film's production, said in a statement on Oct. 9.

Box office revenue made up more than 50 percent of Jinlihua Electric's audited operating income for its most recent fiscal year, the firm said.

However, the statement did not disclose details of the company's investment or what proportion of box office takings it took.

The Foreigner, directed by New Zealand director Martin Campbell and starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, is an action thriller about a Chinese businessman in London. It is based on a booked named The Chinaman, by Stephen Leather. The film was released on Sept. 30 in mainland China and will be released overseas on Oct. 13.
