The 20th Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Awards Announced

(Yicai Global) June 26 -- The 20th Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Award winners have been announced. The Philippines film, 'Pedicab,' won the best film award. The best actress award went to Sareh Bayat for her role in the Iranian film 'Yellow.' The film also took the Jury Grand Prix award. The film Kharms, a co-production by Russia, Lithuania and Macedonia, won the best cinematography award as well as the best screenplay award. Chinese actor Huang Bo won the best actor prize for his role in the crime film, 'The Conformist.'  The best director award went to polish director Maciej Pieprzyca for police drama 'I am a Killer.'

Based on a true story, Pedicap, tells the story of love and belief by an ordinary Philippino family of five in Manila despite hardship and difficulties they face in their lives. The jury believes that Pedicap is full of humanity and the universality in simple style, which is concise and easy to understand. "For the humanism and universality of the story, for the simplicity of the style and realization — for the non-conformism with which it represented our desire to believe that there is a sense in this universe, the award for the best film goes to Pedicab, from the Philippines," said the grand jury president Romanian director Cristian Mungiu.

The best actress award went to Sareh Bayat in the Iranian film 'Yellow.' She is a well-known actress in Iran. She won the Silver Bear Award for best actress in the film 'Nader and Simin, A Separation' at the 61st Berlin Film Festival in 2011. The Iranian film 'Yellow' tells the story of emotional conflicts of five friends triggered by an accident, featuring human nature and social dark side directly.
