(Yicai Global) July 2 -- China's internet giant Tencent Holdings will partner with the country's leading aeronautical university to set up a joint lab on network security.
The lab at Beihang University in Beijing will focus on network defense, malware detection, as well as security regarding big data, content, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, wireless network, artificial intelligence and privacy, state-backed Global Times reported today. The eventual achievements in these fields are supposed to be turned into products.
The university will invite Tencent's researchers and experts to act as part-time tutors for the students, while Tencent will employ teachers from the BU as its external advisors to help solve technical problems in online safety products.
Tencent has a two-decade experience in cybersecurity and is well-positioned to join hands with universities in exploring and promoting related talent fostering, as well as technology R&D and marketization, Ding Ke, Tencent's senior vice president said.
