(Yicai Global) Nov. 24 -- Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Limited [HK:0700] will upgrade its artificial intelligence (AI) medical current medical imaging application Tencent Miying to include medical diagnosis functions, said the firm's chief executive Pony Ma during a speech at the 2017 China International Digital Economic Summit held in Shijiazhuang, in the northern Hebei province yesterday.
Tencent has also agreed a deal with Hebei Medical University and its affiliated hospitals so that they become the first institutions to pilot the AI-assisted diagnosis treatment.
Tencent Miying, jointly developed by the Tencent's AI laboratory and several other teams, combined technologies such as image recognition, Big Data processing as well as deep learning and medicine. Through future upgrades, the product will engage in clinical diagnosis case research through deep learning.
Tencent has established artificial intelligence laboratories in conjunction with more than ten hospitals since the product's release in August. The product not only improves medical efficiency but also plays a vital role in improving the medical level in remote areas.
At the summit, Tencent also reached strategic cooperation with several relevant departments in Hebei province related to medical Big Data, intelligent hospitals, artificial intelligence and other fields.
