(Yicai) Sept. 28 -- Enflame Technology, a Chinese maker of deep learning chips, has completed its CNY2 billion (USD273.7 million) Series D round of financing, attracting renowned investors such as WeChat operator Tencent Holdings and photo editor Meitu.
The lead investor in this round is Shanghai International Group’s subsidiary and industry fund, the Shanghai-headquartered developer of cloud-based chips for artificial intelligence training platforms wrote in a press release today.
Enflame intends to make more competitive products via in-depth cooperation with industry leaders and play a role in the construction of AI chip standards and ecosystem to establish core competitiveness, per Zhao Lidong, founder, chairman, and chief executive.
The startup has mass-produced generations of cloud chips used in the fields of education, smart cities, and science, according to Yao Leiwen, managing director of Tencent's investment department. Tencent can provide its financial and transportation clients with inclusive and high-quality AI solutions relying on the Zixiao chip that Tencent jointly developed with Enflame, Yao added.
