(Yicai Global) March 27 -- Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. has opened its second data center in Hong Kong.

The second center will better support cloud computing for Hong Kong's financial sector, China News Service reported yesterday. Tencent Cloud now operates 39 access zones worldwide.

The company built its first such center in Hong Kong in October and has coaxed financial institutions like Futu Securities International (HK) Ltd. and eBroker Systems Ltd. to join. The facility gives these companies a high-performance cloud network connecting Hong Kong with the entire Asia-Pacific region. Tencent will continue to use the financial infrastructure technological standards its first data center applies.

The complex will provide high-performance cloud computing services and technical capabilities to the many mainland companies that choose the key world financial, trade and shipping center of Hong Kong as a springboard for their global business positioning.
