Tencent-Backed Live Game Platform Douyu Mulls Nasdaq IPO Tencent-Backed Live Game Platform Douyu Mulls Nasdaq IPO

(Yicai Global) March 25 -- Chinese live streaming platform Douyu TV is mulling listing on the US Nasdaq Stock Market this summer, local media Hubei Daily reported today.

Douyu, which aims to become China's Twitch, allows users to interactively embed text and comments in its live streams in a so-called barrage function. It has scooped up CNY7 billion (USD1 billion) investment -- CNY4 billion from tech giant Tencent Holdings last year -- for a valuation of CNY25 billion, a source close to the company said.

Its revenue grew threefold to CNY4 billion last year and it is expected to reach CNY8 billion this year.

Founded in 2015, the Wuhan, Hubei-based firm -- whose name means 'fighting fish' -- has faced down strong rivals like Huya, Panda TV, Huajiao and Inke.

It had lured 200 million Monthly Active Users in November 2017 to become China's largest game live streaming platform.
