(Yicai) Aug. 10 -- China's Tencent Holdings is tightening the management of WeChat mini-programs which allow users to access mobile applications without downloading them to file and comply with new regulations.
From Sept. 1, fresh applets on the social media platform will need complete a filing before launch, the operation center of official accounts said, citing a notice from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Moreover, existing programs need to do the same by March 31, 2024.
The MIIT issued a notice on Aug. 4 to require a filing from providers of internet information services to promote the standardized and healthy development of the internet industry and to crack down on telecommunications and online fraud.
If an app developer fails to complete the procedure, its business will be removed from the platform, the operator added.
