TCL's Sales in North America Should Achieve 30% Growth This Year, Chinese TV Giant’s Chair Says TCL's Sales in North America Should Achieve 30% Growth This Year, Chinese TV Giant’s Chair Says

(Yicai) Jan. 9 -- TCL Technology Group is expecting its sales in North America to soar 30 percent in 2025 from last year, thanks to the recent restructuring of the firm’s supply chain and the optimization of its product portfolio, the chairman of the Chinese television manufacturer said.

And last year, the firm’s US business should have grown by 20 percent, Li Dongsheng, who is also founder of the Huizhou-based company, told Yicai at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

TCL had the largest booth of Chinese companies attending the major tech trade event, which was held from Jan. 7 to Jan. 11, covering 2,342 square meters. Its QD-Mini LED TV X11K, which is expected to be a best-seller in North America next year, was on display, along with a number of its latest products, including the 115-inch QD-Mini LED TV QM891G, which should hit the market soon.

Prices that give value for money are driving sales. TCL ranked second in terms of both TV shipments and sales in the US in the first three quarters last year, according to data from market research firms GfK and Circana. Shipments of TVs sized 75 inches and larger in the country surged 72.6 percent year-on-year, according to Chicago-based Circana.

TCM has a factory in Mexico, which serves as a ‘bridge’ to enter the North American market, Wen Enjiang, the person in charge of the plant, told Yicai. The factory produces around three million TVs a year.

TCL also set up a team in the US last year to focus on product promotion, e-commerce operations and terminal retail, said Zhong Qi, North American market manager at TCL Industries.

However, TCL will face challenges this year. When the new US administration takes office, policies may change, industry insiders said. And the Mexican government has raised the minimum wage by 12 percent, putting great pressure on factories.
