(Yicai Global) July 28 -- TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology is collaborating with phonemaker Samsung Electronics and laptop giant Lenovo Group to launch new high-quality gaming displays during ChinaJoy.
The group and the South Korean tech behemoth are releasing a 57-inch 8K display technology with a 240Hz refresh rate and an R1000 curvature, Zhao Jun, chief executive of TCL CSTO, said to Yicai Global during the largest gaming exhibition in China this year.
Moreover, the Shenzhen-based display panel manufacturer has teamed up with personal computer maker Lenovo to launch a new Legion-branded gaming display, Jun added.
The display panel market is slowly recovering this year after a "cold winter" because the industry is dynamically adjusting output based on market demand, but it is key to continue innovating to introduce better experiences to consumers, the CEO added.
TCL CSTO is expanding its production of medium-sized panels to debut more high-value digital devices and in-vehicle displays. The market for mid-sized panels will grow in the next two to three years and the destocking of computer screens will end, Jun said, adding that the market of in-vehicle display screens is predicted to maintain rapid growth, presenting new opportunities.
Game devices are premium products as a 49-inch mini LED gaming monitor is priced at CNY9,000 (USD1,225) on e-commerce platforms, while a liquid crystal display TV of the same brand and size costs only CNY4,000.
The Chinese firm has been producing gaming monitors for esports since 2019 and the segment gained widespread recognition after ChinaJoy 2021. In the first half, TCL CSTO shipped five million units, making up around 35 percent of the global total.
