Taobao, JD.com and Tmall Top Most Popular Chinese E-Commerce App Rankings for August

(Yicai Global) Oct. 13 -- Three e-commerce apps backed by Chinese e-commerce giants Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] and JD.com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD] topped a ranking of e-commerce mobile applications in China by active user numbers in August, according to a report released yesterday by Analysys China.

Taobao, JD.com and Tmall took the top three spots in the list. Tmall is a premium version of Taobao, which implements stricter requirements for sellers.

Taobao remains the most popular e-commerce application in the country despite the number of active users falling to 390 million. The number of JD.com's app users continued to grow and exceeded 150 million, while Tmall recorded a modest increase in the number of monthly active users, reaching close to 50 million.
