Switzerland’s IQAir Might Start Producing in China, CEO Says at CIIE Switzerland’s IQAir Might Start Producing in China, CEO Says at CIIE

(Yicai Global) Nov. 6 -- IQAir might consider building a production base in China should demand require, the chief executive officer of the Swiss air purifier maker told Yicai Global at the China International Import Expo.

At the moment it takes four to five weeks for IQAir’s products to arrive in China by rail from its Swiss or German factories, said Frank Hammes, who is also co-founder of the firm.

Should demand grow, we will consider producing IQAir's products in China while keeping an eye on quality control, he said.

Goldach-based IQAir sold its first air purifier in China in 1998, and has witnessed great change in people’s attitude towards air quality since then.

Hammes said he was impressed by the efforts China has made to reduce pollution, such as its support for new energy vehicles.

Attending the CIIE shows our commitment to the local market and confidence in the Chinese economy amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Hammes said. “We are here to communicate more with consumers and feel the charm of this big market,” he added.

The successful opening of the CIIE has dispelled all our previous worries during a difficult year, Hammes said.

Once the expo is over, Hammes, who has just completed 14 days of quarantine after arriving in Shanghai from Switzerland, will take the opportunity to spend some time in China and visit more customers.
