(Yicai Global) Aug. 4 -- Chinese smart electric meter developer, Suntront Technology Co. [SHE:300259] released new-generation narrowband smart meter products developed using the latest Internet of Things (IoT) technology yesterday, the company said in a statement today.
Features of the products include water supply related off-site data retrieval, online monitoring, Big Data analysis and information technology enabled services, per the statement.
The new technology will effectively improve the efficiency and quality of water supply management, and significantly reduce operating costs, wrote Suntront in the statement. As well as expanding existing product lines, the new products will also enhance Suntront's competitiveness by increasing the coverage of its IoT solutions and services.
As an emerging technology, narrowband IoT -- abbreviated NB-IoT -- has wide applications in automated meter reading, intelligent parking, smart homes, intelligent manufacturing and environmental surveillance, public information shows.
The Chinese government plans to increase the number of BN-IoT base stations to 400,000 by year's end, and NB-IoT services will be made available across the country by 2020, per a notice the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued in early June.
