(Yicai Global) Sept. 26 -- China's first low-cost airline, Spring Airlines Co. [SHA:601021], will provide special seat selection services on its flights during the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Oct. 4 this year, so passengers can enjoy the full-moon while in the air, the company said in a press briefing on Sept. 26.
Spring Airlines has provided the service for its Mid-Autumn Festival flights since 2013 and now considers it an annual tradition for the festival, online news outlet Jiemian News reported.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, like Spring Festival, is one of the most important dates in China's lunar calendar. Moon gazing is a customary part of the event.
Spring will offer free seat selection for flights through a feature on Tencent Holdings Ltd.'s [HKG:0700] vastly popular social media and lifestyle app, WeChat.
The company's operations control center will also recommend flight routes to view the full moon, the firm said. Passengers will still be prohibited from turning on mobile phones during flights so will need to bring a regular camera or iPad to take photographs instead.
