(Yicai Global) Feb. 9 -- Spring Airlines has held the first big face-to-face jobs fair by a Chinese carrier since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in late 2019.
The Shanghai-based airline is seeking to hire new staff in six key positions, including cabin crew, safety officers, algorithm engineers, and software development engineers, The Paper reported yesterday.
A number of carriers, including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, and China Airlines, have been hiring since December when China relaxed its Covid control measures. Xiamen Airlines began its 2023 flight attendant recruitment drive in December, the largest in recent years.
Airlines have mainly recruited staff through virtual contact over the past three years because of China’s Covid control policy, Xiao Fei, assistant general manager of human resources at Spring Airlines, was cited as saying by The Paper. As carriers resume flights, hiring will increase, Xiao said.
Jobseeker interest is in line with expectations, Xiao noted, saying that the number of resumes received for the advertised positions was back to the level seen in the same period of 2019. Some 2,000 people had applied for flight attendant and safety officer jobs alone, he said.
Since December, a number of airlines have announced plans to resume international and regional routes from this month.
China Southern Airlines is looking for flight attendants who can speak English and other foreign languages.
